Общественная организация, выступающая за реформирование городского управления. Основана в 1924 как Американская муниципальная ассоциация [American Municipal Association] и первоначально объединяла муниципальные лиги штатов [state municipal league]. С 1947 членство открыто для отдельных муниципалитетов, и ныне Лига объединяет более 1 тыс. городов США, в том числе все города с населением свыше 500 тыс. человек и 87 процентов городов с населением свыше 100 тыс. человек. Выступает в качестве лобби [ lobbying], защищая интересы муниципалитетов в Конгрессе США [ Congress, U.S.], правительстве, федеральных ведомствах. Издает ежемесячник "Нэйшнс ситиз" [Nation's Cities].
